IN ARGENTINA.

THE FAE3UNG OUTLOOK. Mr Kingsland, who was in New Zealand over thirty years ago, and who is now closely associated with the cold storage business in Buenos Aires, lias some interesting remarks to make concerning matters in Argentina. AJr Kingsland was tl>e founder of the La Plata Cold Btorago Company of Buenos Aires, tho capital for which was raised in South Africa. Tho undertaking, ho informed a representative jof the Post, was dealing with some . 450 bullocks and 400 sheep daily, but j it is now turning out 600 bullocks and ( 6000 sheep, all for the British markets. I The dairying industry, Mr Kingsland states, was making great progress. It was largely in the hands of Spanish Basques and German, who wero indefatigable workers and conducted their business upon modern lines. Thero was, ho said, much difficulty in procuring labour for milking. Tho labour for other purposes is Italian, and it is p generally satisfactory, the immigrants being hard-working, intelligent, and frugal people. Usually tho system was to put a lot of immigrants on to cropping tho land, and after four or five | years cropping, the land was put down in alfalfa or lucerne, for feeding stock. The prospects of the country were extremely bright, notwithstanding what superficial observers might say, and Mr Kingelaml did not think New Zealand could afford to hold her competitor in tho frozen meat and dairying industries too cheaply. The country was peaceful, which fact was no doubt attributable to the enormous amount of British and foreign capital invested in ita enterprises and industries, England having £2,---000,000 in tho railways alone. Americans were making a big bid for the trade, and had recently bought the company with whioh Mr Kingsland was identified, retaining him until a few months ago as advisory director.
