SALE OF WORK
The St. John's Girls' Missionary < Guild annual sale of work and entertainment was held in the Drill Hall I yesterday afternoon and evening. Great preparations had been made, | and the members of the Guild had taken every care to provide a big ' all-round collection ol articles F or dis- ! petal. There were nine stalls set out ' in pierette decoration in the hall. The first was the work stall, in charge ( of Misses Ellerm, O'Halloran, and Kitchen. The second stall had the sign " Art Gallery," and a, visit to this place was amply rewarded. The art gallery was in charge of Miss Clarke. i The refreshment stall, always well > patronised, was under the careful management of Misses Pierpoint and Howell Other stalls were— Doll I stall, Misses Askew and Fowlesjbran tub, Miss Mountford ; fancy stall, Misses Buckingham and Winslade; curio stall, Misses Edith Hare, Bowden, Drew, and Laura Haybittle; sweet, stall, Misses E. Burrell, Luxmore, Vera Haybittle, Hopkins; produce stall, Misses Walker and Campion; flower stall, Misses Prior, V. Irwin, Winnie Burrell, Elsie Hostick, J. Mountford, May Prior. The entertainment part included tableaux, imitations by Mr Sawtell, coon song and dance, violin solo by Mr Massey, Japanese Lullaby, Misses Massey ; quartette, Misses Drew, Luxmoore, L. and V. Haybittle. The attendance of the public, was gratifying, and the result of the sale encouraging to the promoters. The gross proceeds of the sal© were nearly £70, and when the expenses are met it is expected a sum of £60 will be available to be divided between the Maori and Melanesian Missions.
