♦ ■ [PIB PRESS ASSOOUIVIM.j Marton, August 24. In deference to the recent remarks of the Premier, the Marton Jockey Club has decided to abandon the double totalisator at their next race meeting.

Captain Edwin telegraphed at 12.43 p.m. to-day: — Westerly strong winds to gale. Glass rises. Bain probable, and weather cold. Singularly bravery and presence of mind were displayed at Outtrim (Victoria) by a nine-year-old girl, May Rutherford, who saved her baby brothers from death in a burning building. Mrs Rutherford, who is a widow, was temporarily in occupation or one of two detached rooms, pending the completion of alterations to her house. On Friday night the" workmen had nearly completed their operations and Mrs Rutherford sent her son to one of the detached rooms, telling him to place the kettle on the fire. Shortly afterwards she heard the screams of he rnine-year-old daughter, who, with her two little brothers, was asleep in the room. The noise of the fire woke the little girl, who took one of her brothers in her arms, and rushed into the open. She then ran back and rescued the other child, and attempted to 6ave some of their clothing. The girl's conduct is to be brought under the notice of the Royal Humane Society. MERIT REWARDED BY COURT OP JUSTICE. The acknowledged good qualities and success of SANDER and SON'S EUCALYPTI EXTRACT have brought out many imitations* and one case was just tried in the Supreme Court of Victoria, before his Honour Chief Justice Sir J. Madden, K.C.M.G., etc. His Honour, when giving judgment, said with regard to the GENUINE SANDER and SON'S EUCALYPTI EXTRACT that whenever an article is commended to the public by reason of its good qualities, etc., it is not permissible to imitate any of its features. He restrained the imitators perpetually from doing so, and ordered them to pay all costs. We publish this to afford the public an opportunity of protecting themselves, and of securing what is proved beyond all doubt by skilled witnesses at the Supreme Court of Viotoria and by many authorities during the past 30 years to be a preparation of genuine merit, viz., the GENUINE SANDER and SON'S PURE VOLATILE EXTRACT. THE COMING MACHINE. There is no necessity to wait for the coming Milking Machine. The "L.K.G." came five years ago, and is still here. There is no difficulty about securing a coming machine, as there always has been, and always will be, hundreds of machines which are just at the stage of either coming or going. The trouble is to get them to remain. In 'this respect the "L.K.G." stands alone,— as the first and only Milking Machine which has yet demonstrated beyond doubt that it is a permanent success. Why experiment when you can get ( the proved and firmly established "L.K.G." machine? MacEwans, Ltd., Sole Agettte, U.S.S. Co.'s Buildings, Wellington.
