IB - EIiSC-810 T-U-MBAFK— COPYBIOHtI IPBK PRESS ASSOCIATION.] London, July 23. , Router's San Francisco correspondent states that the small steamer Sau Pedro, laden with lumber, collided »t midnight on Saturday off Eureka in a heavy fog with the steamer Columbia (2700 tons), carrying numerous San Francisco passengers. The San Pedro struck the port bow. tearing an immense hole in the Columbia and the passengers hurried on deck where a wild panic ensued. The Columbia sank in five minutes. A life raft launched saved a few ani eight were saved by clinging to the San Pedro. Lloyds states that 100 were drowned and 200 saved by a passing steam€>r ' Other accounts give the number lost at 150, including the Columbia s captain. One story states that every woman perished. •
