The dead body found in the Auckland Harbour on the 23rd ultimc proves to have been that of the mate John Hodgson, who was last seen just previous to that date, when he said he was going to visit some friends at Onehunga. Dr. James Dalziell was charged at the Police Court to-day with having unlawfully used an instrument on a young woman at Auckland on llth June, It was stated the woman was in the hospital, and was unable to appear at present. The defendant was remanded for eight days, bail being allowed on his own bond of £200 and two sureties of £100 each. Auckland, June 20. Mr Justice Denniston granted decrees nisi in the cases Albert Henry Berry, labourer, v.. Mary Berry, desertion: and Robert Henry Davis v. Ethel Maud Davis and Robert Davis, co-respondent, for misconduct. Christchurch, June 20. Tho Canterbury Acclimatisation Society recently wrote to the Colonial Secretary, asking that steps be taken to remove from the Waimakariri river the seals recently shown at the Exhibition, and, liberated when the great show closed. The reason for asking was that the seals were destroying the trout. At last night's meeting of the Council of the Society a letter from the Colonial Secretary was read, stating the matter would receive consideration. One member Raid further consideration would be unnecessary, as the seals had disappeared, and he understood „ there was no fear of their appearing again.
