BLACK-PREMYSLAV CONCERT

The Black-Premyslav concert in the Drill Hall last night was not so well patronised as it might have been, but there was no lack of enthusiasm for the musical items rendered by the concert company. Encores were the order of tne evening, and the performers had no difficulty in upholding the great reputation which preceded them. The violinist, Premyslav, walked, or rather played himself into popularity, at the opening of the programme, and his every fresh appearance was the signal for an effusive greeting, until finally he was recalled three times. Miss Kosina Buckman, who has beon on the Feilding platform before, and was listened to with pleasure, has a soprano voice of great range? and volume, and as she has been under the care of good masters, she handled her numbers in a clever and finished way. The pianiste of the company, Miss Bessie Bcattie, besides playing the accompaniments with taste and expression, rendered several pianoforte selections, which were not at all the least enjoyable items on the evening's programme. The lion of the concert, Mr Andre*' Black, received the honour of a double encore on his first appearance, and it was not any more than he was entitled to. His song, "Two Grenadiers," in the first part of the programme, gave him an opportunity of exhibiting the wondeiful powers of his fine baritone voice, and he was especially happy in this song. All his contributions were of a high order, and he impressed the audience each time he sang. The whole concert vas listened to with enthusiasm, and might be considered a big musical success.
