The Mail Contract has developed another phase. Victoria has now agreed to contribute the whole emount of the guarantee of debentuies, with certain stipulations, which will exclusively benefit Victoria. The conditions include a first mortgage over the vessels, the guarantee to be ! in operation till eight steamer** are built, and all possible repairs anl victualling done in Melbourne, which is to be made the first port of call. Over 1200 tons of refrigerated space per vessel du/iag the butter and fruit season, representation on the London and Melbourne boards, and other States have a right to join within six months, on paying a per capita share of the guarantee.
