[PSB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston N., June 12. At the Supreme Court, before Justice Cooper, Patrick Brosnaghan, found guilty of false pretences, was sentenced to sib months. The case of McKee, alleged indecent assault, was adjourned till the next sitting in September, owing to the principal witness, a little girl, contracting measles. Charles Duncan pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting and robbing F. N. Bevin of £16 16s and a gold watch at Dannevirke on April sth. He was sentenced to three years. Luther Martin Murray, charged with being an accomplice in the same offence, pleaded not guilty. Evidence of considerable length was taken. Duncan, in his evidence, stated that the accused took the money, and he took the watch and chain. He admitted they were all under the influence of drink at the time. The accused, Martin, strongly denied the offence, and said he knew nothing about tho robbery until next day, when he was arrested. A verdict of not guilty was found on the ground that there was not sufficient, evidence.
