He expresses humself as pleased with the decisions of the Premiers at the Conference on the question of the relations of the States and Commonwealth,, but is disappointed that there was no favorable decision regarding the State debts. SUGAR. While in Queensland, Sir John Forrest made extensive enquiries concerning the industry in the northern part of the State, and consider^ the industry is profitable. Some planters gave a depressed outlook, but the majority are hopeful. Kanakas have almost disappeared .and are now practically a thing of the past.
