Auckland, May 28. The Auckland footballers, who on Saturday declined to sign the declaration submitted by the Rugby Union, meet to-night to reconsider their decision. It is understood there is a probability of the men signing the declaration. TROUT POACHERS. AN AWKWARD POSITION! [PBB PBBBB ASSOCIATION.] Christchurch, May 28. The Exhibition seals, recently liberated, are destroying large numbers of trout in the Waimakariri river, and the Acclimatisation Society is asking that steps be taken to protect the trout from seals, who are quit© tame and when thoy come ashore allow themselves fo be handled. ___ ,„.
