ADDINGTON MARKETS.

[PEB PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] Chrietchurch, May 22. At the Addington live stock market to-day there were large entries -of sheep and fat cattle and moderate entries of other classes of stock, and the attendance was good. Store sheep were easier as were fat cattle other than very prime. Prime fat lambs sold at about last week's rates and fat sheep, especially ewes, were easier in consequence of the oversupply. All classes of pigs sold well, but store and dairy cattle were dull of sale. The yarding of store sheep was made up principally of lambs and wethers, and in consequence of the more wintry aspect of the weather the demand seems to have fallen off. Sales were more difficult to effect even at somewhat lower rates than those lately ruling. The principal sales were : — Ewes — 9B s.m. at 14s 3d, 72 at 9s 6d, 158 aged at 6s. Wethers —78 at 15s 9d, 22 at 15s 4d, 209 at 13s 6d, 335 at 13s 4d to 13s sd, 138 at 14s, 178 at 13s Id, 86 at 12s sd, 144 at 17s lOd, lambs 80 (ewes) 12s 2d, 273 at 11s 7d, 38 at 11s, 102 at 11s 3d, 186 at 10s Bd, 155 at 10s 6d, 314 at 10s 4d, 102 at 10s, 180 at 9s 6d, 393 at 9s 6d. 270 at 7s 6d. There was a large entry of fat lambs, and, as last week, there was a large proportion of unfinished lots. Prime lambs sold fully up to last week's luatations, but unfinished sorts were easier, in sympathy with the store sheep market. Tegs made 18s 6d to 23s 9d, show lambs to 25b Id, standard weights 14s to 18b, lighter 11s 6d to 13s 9d. The yarding of fat sheep was one of the largest seen in the yards, and a number of lots had to be accommodated in the store pens. Owing to the heavy supply there was a decline in all classes except for prime wethers, and towards the close of the sale ewes were difficult to dispose of, only a few buyers operating. The range of prices was: — Prime wethers 20s to 24s Bd, Tighter 16s to 19s 7d, prime ewes 18s to 20s 6d, medium 15s to 17s Id, aged 10s 6d.to 14s 6d. The entry of fat cattle totalled 304, among which were some prime heavyweight steers, but a large proportion of the yarding were half-fat sorts. There was little change in the value of prime beef, but other descriptions were much easier. Steers made £7 to £13, heifers £4 to £7 10s, equal to 22s 6d to 25s for prime and 19s to 22s for medium and inferior per 1001 b. A good yarding of veal calves made 4s 64 to £3 9s, according to size and quality. A small mixed yarding of store cattle, mostly inferior sorts, met with a poor demand and were nearly all passed. Dry cows sold at 20s to £2 16s. Dairy cows were also dull of sale at 25s to £7 7s 6d. There was a Moderate yarding of ?>igs, fate being in keen demaid, and urther improvement in larger stores. Baooners made 48s to 665, 'equal to 5 1 and 5Jd per lb. Porkers 30s to 455, equal to. s}d to 6|d, medium 14s to 20s, and weanera 4s to 12s 6d.
