STOCK REPORT. Mr Newton King reports; — Cattle. — At Stratford, on Tuesday, t here was a good jarding, large attendance, and brisk bidding, nearly everything selling at the hammer at slightly improved prices. Weaners nade 7s 6d to 14s, good calves 16s Gd to 255, good 18-months to 20---n.onths steers £2 14s, 3s-year forward bullocks £4 16s, store cows 38s 6d to 475, forward do. £2 13s to £3 12s, fat do. £4 os to £4 11s, bulls 33s to 60s, fat ewes 14s. At the Haymarket, on Saturday, about 70 pigs weie penned. Small sorts made 3s 6d to 6s 6d, stores 7s 6d to 12s 6d, fiporkere 15s to 275, hacks £3 10s to £7 12s 6d. We offeied a full yarding of sheep and a fair ontry of cattle to a moderate circle of buyers. With the exception of a small line of woolly lambs with a prohibitive reserve, we cleared our yarding of sheep at well up to late values. There was a good demand for steers of all ages, but female cattle were unsaleable. We quote: —Old ewes in lamb 8s 3d, 9s 2d, 11s 10s, 14s and 14s 3d, small two-tooth ewes in lamb 16s. A line of four-year eves made 18s Id. Shorn lambs Us to 13s 7d, woolly lambs 8s Id to 11s. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report on their Eketahuna sale on Friday as follows: — A large yarding of both sheep and cattle, every available pen being full. A good attendance of the public, but owing to the rain stock did not look at their best, and there was a slight dtop in prices, except for 3 and 4 year bullocks. We quote: Sheep: Ewes in lamb 13s lOd, 15s Id, 15s 3d. and »ip to 16s lOd; cull ewes, 11s 5d to 12s Id; lambs, 10s to 11s 7d; culls, 8a 8d to 10s; wethers, 16s 7d, 16s lOd to 275; foiward empty ewes, 14s 9d. Cattle: 3 and 4-year forward bullocks, £5 5s to £5 10s; store 3-jear bullocks, £4 10s to £4 12s 6d; 2} to 3-year steers, £4 to £ 455: 2year steers, £3 10s; weaners, to 15s: cows, £2; forward cows, £3 15s. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their Eketahun* stock sale: — Sheep came foiward in fair aver age numbers, all classes being rep re sented. Competition was not ac brisk for sheep generally as at last sale, although wethers, empty ewes and fats maintained their values, aged ewea and poor lambs showing a decline in price. We had a fail entry in cattle, all lines selling witi the exception of cows and heifers, which class proved a drag.
