MINISTERS' TROUBLES.

MINISTER'S TROUBLES. [PER press association.] Auckland, April 11. The Minister of Lands met a deputation of settlers at Te Awamutu who urged the Government to adopt reflective means to cope with the rabbit pest, which is increasing in the King country at an alarming rate. It was largely through that that large areas of native land were locked up. Mr McNab said the law obliged private owners to keep down rabbits, but there was not the slightest hope of the- State stepping in as a universal rabbit killer or starting a canning factory. The Government had no power to buy netting, but that was the most practical suggestion made. He promised to look into the matter, but held there was no -hope of a bonus. The ' Trades and Labor Council passed a resolution expressing deep regret at the references made by the Trades and Labor Conference at Dunedin to the action of the Hons. J. A. Millar and Dr Findlay, in connection with the slaughtermen's strike, and placed on record its entire confidence in both members of the Ministry.
