WANGANUI PRESBYTERY.

The above Presbytery met at Marton yesterday. There were present — Revs. Morton (Moderator), Hutson, , Ryburn, Gordon, McCully, Hall, Doull, Ross and Budd, and Messrs Hounery, Brechim, Mcßeth, Fraser, Murray, Simpson, Tucker, Bishop and , Crocket. Apologies were received i from Rev. I. Jolly, Messrs A. J. Simpson, and Brash. REPORTS OF STATIONS. Rev. R. Ryburn reported on the work being done along the Main Trunk Line by Mr Lennox. It was pointed out that donations of good literature, magazines, etc., for dis- . tribution by Mr Lennox would bo very acceptable. It was agreed to make Mr Ryburn supervisor of this work. The British and Foreign Bible Society, through its agent, Mr Spencer, had agreed to assist Mr Lennox's work to the extent of £10 pei month for three months. Raetihi was also reported on by Mr llybuin. Mr McKenzie, the missionary there, is doing good work. A report re Bulls was submitted by Mr McCully, and after hearing him and representatives of the Bulls congregation, the Presbytery agreed to the following motion:— "The Presbytery receives, with profound thankfulness to God, the report of the generous and practical spirit in which the congregation of Bulls has shown its appreciation of the worth and work of their late minister, Mr Doull, and heartily commends the congregation for its present spirit of hopefulness and determination to obtain a settled minister without delay." Taihape. — Tenders for tho mans© at Taihape are out, and are to close on April 18th, the building to be completed in June. Mr Bishop, late of Huntley, has been appointed for twelve months, to fill the place vacated by Mr Fleming. The Presbytery heartily thanked the sawmilling companies for liberal donations of timber for nianso construction. Some 14,000 feet of timber has been given. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Ross for his diligence in superintending the work in Taihape. Mangaweka. — Mr Gunn (licentiate) is at present preaching in this place with a view to a call. The Rev. E. Walker has been appointed for twelve months to Halcombe, and will begin his duties on April 21. Revs. Jolly and Budd submitted reports of their recent visit to the congregations of Huntorville, Mangaweka, and Taihape, and suitable resolutions, based on these reports, were passed. Mr Tucker and Mr Thompson, of Wanganui, were appointed elders for Fordell. Resignation. — Mr Doull resigned the clerkship, owing to failing health. This was accepted with deep regret, and it was agreed to record the Presbytery's sense of its appreciation of the faith, diligence, exactness, and conscientiousness with which Mr Doull discharged his duties as qlerk and treasurer of Presbytery funds for a period of over twenty years. It was agreed to hold over the appointment of clerk until next meeting, Mr McCully acting pro tern. - A note from the convenor of Foreign Missions was read, asking the Presbytery to make it known that the Foreign Mission Committee wanted a good practical carpenter for work on Ambrim (New Hebrides). £150 was offered to a suitable man, if married. The Presbytery discussed the resolutions of the General Assembly ro Aged and Infirm Ministers' Fund, and several important amendments were proposed. Revs. Tolly and Budd, Messrs J. H. Murray, G. Bartholomew, Hounery, and vernon wore appointed a Sablmth School Committee (Rev. G. Budd convener). A suitable resolution re the sad loss received by the death of Mr Cyril Roseveare was passed. Tho Presbytery then adjourned to meet in Palmerston North, in St. Andrew's Church, in June. Subsequently the Presbytery met as a Maori Mission Committee, but owing to the limited time at its disposal little business was done.
