o J DAY BY DAY. \ (By Telegraph. — Special Service.) Christclnirch, March 12. Tho Exhibition has been well attonded again to-day. '• On Thursday next, if nothing unforeseen occurs, tho total aggregate attendance will reach .a million and a half. Although nothing definite has been settled, in the meantime it is probable that whon this number is attained, tho fortunate visitor will receive some suitablo recognition of tho incident. In any case, steps will bo taken to ascertain tho name of tho person who secures the honour of being the one who makes up tho million and a hair. Judging of tho district court dis-. play will take place- on. the 21st inst. Further awards in®connection with judging of exhibits are expected to be unulo to-morrow. Replies are being received from football clubs with respect to tho proposed football carnival to be held during the early part' of April. It is probable that steps will bo taken with tho view of retaining the Aquarium in Ghristchurch, having same removed and fitted up in tho Acclimatisation Society's garden. The Aquarium li.-is boon one oF tho chief attractions at the Exhibition. Thirty pupils and two teachers from tho Ota'utsiu School, Southland, reached the Exhibition to-day, and will remain till Friday. _ - Special attention is being given to the Sports Ground track in view or *ho athletic meeting arranged by the Canterbury College Students' Association, which takes place on Saturday afternoon next. Tho Gcjieral Manager of tho Exhibition reports a very considerable increase in revenue from admissions* tc the art gallery during the past week. It is quit-e obvious that the near approach of tho conclusion of tho Exhibition, and the return to England of the pictures, is causing visitors to pay more than usual attention to this exceptional feature. Tho Bessos-o'-the-Barn Band, which is still attracting largo attendances, | will give its final performance on the Sports Ground to-morrow evening. Selections will bo given alternately with tho pyrotechnic displays provid- ] ed hy tho representative of Pain ami ' Sons, London. Wonderland is organising a fresh novelty in the form of a beauty show and physical culture competition, ( which is to take placo on a specially j constructed platform in tho grounds on Friday, 22nd March. Prizes will bo givon to men and women having tho best physical development, woman showing the best shaped arm and shoulder, and tho woman displaying tho neatest foot and ankle. The feet and ankles must be displayed bare. A prize- valued at five guineas j will also be given to tho maiden who is judged by vote of those present to be tho prettiest girl in Christchurch. On tho same night will bo hold a sensation which caused immense excitement at Bondi. Sydney, when performed there some weeks ago. A gold nugget valued at £10 will be buried in the sand in Wonderland grounds, and members of tho public may secure digger's licenso and spado for sixpence, enabling them to dig foi buried treasure.
