SCULLING.

THE STANBURY-WEBB MATCH. The new boat built by George Towns for Webb is a very nice craft, and the Wanganui oarsman will be as well boated on Boxing Day as his great rival. The boat is 25 feet, long, or about 6 inches longer than' the old one which Webb has used for some fixe years past. Thf ttfal weight of the boat, with riggers, etc., is only Subs, or. only a pound more than Dunnan's shell , which Mas been pronounced by the Canadian and his friends to be such a marvel of lightness. Webb was out twice yesterday in the new skiff, which is more buoyant than the old boat, and does not dip like the latter used to. There was not that stopping between the strokes whica was so noticeable in the old boat, whioh was much deeper in the water, and hence the regis* tance was greater and the pace correspondingl ymore. Webb expresses himself as very well pleased with the boat, and, providing all goes wa.ll in the meantime with her, he will have no excuse, if beaten, en the score of having an inferior craft to row in. The swivels are constructed differently to anything seen here, and are* supposed to be an improvement .Altogether the boat is a credit to the builder, and should prove remarkably fast.— Herald.
