The Famine in Japan. Telegraph Copyright Presfc Association. Received Jan 26. 10.26 a.m. Stratr, This Day. The owners of a steamer trading to the East offered the Government to convey free five hundred tons of wheat to the famine district in Japan. • Arbitration Aot Condemned. Sydney, This Day. A remarkable circular has been issued by the Riley employers' representative on the Arbitration Court. It attacks the recent High Court judgments, and in reviewing the finding of the Arbitration Court says the Arbitration Aot has sow become a menace instead of a bene fit to the industrial classes. All the penal oriminal sections of the Act remain, but all the other sections which give employer and employees opportunities of settling the condi tions of their industries have been praotioally destroyed. The Arbitration Court, however anxious it may be to do its duty, is harrassed by judgments which leave it with practically no powers. It urges the repeal or the amendment of the Aot. Bhooking Death of Two Children. % Sydney, This Day. Mrs Welsh, returning from a visit to her mother, accompanied by two children, got of! the track in the Warren district, and wandered about in the dreadful heat. Both' of the children perished from heat and thirst. The demented mother was rescued. . , Anarchist Plot Discovered New York, Jan. 25. Tbe police when investigating the murder of an Italian near Pittsbnrg discovered documents proving an anarchist plot to kill the governors of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Chinese-American Boycott New York, January 25. The American exports to China have declined 70 per cent owing to the boycott. Australian wheat superseded American.
