OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL

The above met yesterday. Present: Crs. Wheeler (chairman), Pease, Vinoent, Mortensen, Cornfoot, Reid and Bowling, CORRESPONDENCE. From Palmerston Hospital and Charitable Aid Board asking for instalment of £134 10s lOd From Halcombu Town Board Clerk, stating that the Board is willing to pay half cost of metaling the continuation of Peane-street, providing the cost does not exceed £30. From H. F. West, asking permission to erect a verandah to his shop at Ash hurst. Granted subject to the Engineer's approval. RESOLUTIONS The following were oarried : — Proposed by Cr. Bowling, seconded by Cr. Mortensen, that the Clerk be instructed to furnish a return at next meeting of the council, show iug the receipts and expenditure of each riding in the County from March 81st to December 31st, 1905. Proposed by Cr Peace, seconded by Cr. Mortensen, that the clerk be instructed to give notice that 10 per cent., will be charged on all over due rates after 15th December, 1905. Proposed by Cr. Pearce, seconded by Cr. Bowling, that in reply to the Crown Land Banger re rubbish deposited on the Oroua River bed, to state that the Feilding Borough Council have provided a rubbish depot and that this Council agrees to his suggestion to notify in the Feilding Star, and arrange with tho police to put an end to the nuisance. Proposed by Cr Wheeler, seconded by Cr Vincent, that Mr Monrad's application to construct a road conneoting the Napier Palmerston with Stace's road be approved, subject to its being 60ft wide and being passed by thift Council's engineer. Proposed by Cr Pearce, seconded by Or Mortensen, that the engineer be instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of protecting the eastern end of the Bunnythorpe bridge, and to write to the Railway Department to see if they will deliver a few trucks of rocks ar Bunnythorpe. If so to state price per yard for stone 6in. to lOin. and from lft. Gin. to 3ft in diameter. Proposed by Cr Pearce, seconded by Cr Reid, that tenders be called for the collecton of dog tax for the year 1906. The tax to be as follows —sheep dogs up to three 2s 6d eaoh, sporting dogs 10s.
