I rote that the number of licensee existing in tho district bo reducedi I note that no licenses be granted in the district, REASONS : (1.) Will throw over 8000 men and women out of employment. (2.) No License is an invasion of tbe natural rights of the individual, and therefore means a great injustice to many. (3.) Wherever Prohibition has been tried in the United Stat«9 or Canada, it baa led to far greater evils than those it sought to remove, sly grog shops, lying, evasion, lawlessness, i-ojury, increased drunkenness, and other evils. (4.) If No License ia carried, every hotel, wholesale bouse, bottle licensee and club would be closed uji, and no liquor be sold or bought. (5.) If you buy liquor u\ ewhere, the seller must be notified that it is to be sent or taken into your district, and your name and address be given to him. (6.) The person wV sells the liquor would have to give your name and address and the quantity and quality of the liquor sold, to the Clerk of the Magistrate's Court. (7.) For a breach of the law you would be liable to a penalty of £20, and for a second breach, to a penalty of £50, or a term of imprisonment. (8.) On suspicion that a wineglassful is sold, any house may be raided by the police, any liquor found therein will be seized, and tbe person whose house is raided wonld have to satisfy the Magistrate that he had not sold liquor. Failing to do this, which wouli be very difficult, he would be sentenced to a heavy fine or term of imprisonment." Can any Law be move Unjust? This is No License.
