ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

A young man named Albert Higgj attempted to commit suicide last evening by drinking water in whicb a quantity of match heads had been dissolved. Medical aid was promptly summoned and the stomach pump used with success. Higga has beec drinking lately. He was broughi before Mr James, S.M., to day. H< pleaded guilty to the offence, anc was admitted to probation for si? months' in his own recognisance foi L2O and one surety of L2O. A pro hibition order was issued againsi i him.
