FEILDING ATHLETIC CLUB.

A mooting of the above Club was held in the Drill Hall last evening, there being preseut — Messrs Lethbridge (chair), Fisher, Haswell, Lochhead, J. Wilson, M. Belfit, Butler, Wackerell, Trewin, Short, Stunell, Goodin, Collingwood, R. H. Wilson, Worsfold, and Stirling. Apologjes for non-attendance were received from Messrs W. Reid and Sebley. Correspondence was read and dealt ■w?itt», after the following jn<3ges for ib.e Boxing Day sports were appointed ; — Running : President, Worsfold, Stunell, Butler, Trewin, Collingwood, J. Wilson, R. H. Wilson, and W. Reid. Jumping : Messrs Short and Wackerell. Laptakers : Messrs Collingwood, Wackerell, and Sebiey. Record board : Mr R. H. Wilson. Handicappers for boys' event : Messrs Belfit and Whisker. The Secretary was instructed to call for tenders for the right of booths at sports, also to arrange for men for gates, etc. The following were elected members of the Club : — Rev. Lawry, R. Mclntosh, R. Newman, L. Day, R. Shortall. Mr Day was elected to fill Mr J. Lissington's place on the committee, the latter having left the district. Reports were received from the Ground, Dance, and Concert Committees. The former recommended the erection of a fence, whereby additional space would be given to competitors and their attendants, and it was decided to have the work done. For the dance Mr R. F. Haybittle's orchestra will supply the music. The Concert Committee reported that a lirst-class programme had been arranged, and that the services of Miss Parsons and Herr Berger had been secured. The Secretary reported having had an interview with the League of Wheelmen's representative re tho Club joining tho League and running bicycle races under that body's rules. Tho Secretary's action in informing the representative that the Club were unanimous in the opinion that no good would result in joining the League was upheld, several speakers referring to the fact that the bicycle events drew more competitors and better racing as the races were now run. The President and Secretary were deputed to purchased the bracelets for the Ladies' Bracelet Handicap at the sports. Several accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting then adjourned till the 19th inst.

Writes " Victor " in the Wanganui Heraia : The Feilding Athletic Club are to be congratulated on the splendid nominations they have received for their Boxing Day gathering. The entrants include many of the best runners of New Zealand, and also three from Australia. Sprints and long-distance races have filled equally well, and it only remains for the handicapper (Mr Ulic Shannon) to do his work well, and favorable weather to be experienced, for the forthcoming sports to be as successfp.l fis any of this popular Club's previous meetings. The presence of the names of A. YV. Watts and W". 11. Arnotfc in tbe hurdle events is reminiscent of old times, Ten or twelve years ago they used to figure on the scratch mark there, and probably they will be found quite fa6t enough for any of the young 'uns yet.
