♦ ... Telegraph Press Assocmtion. Copyright Sydney December 12. The seamen met to-day, but nothing has been allowed to transpire. _ It is reported that they issue an ultimatum to-morrow. There is no change reported as far as the owners are concerned. Melbourne, December 12. The feeling here is that the strike will be averted. The seamens' delegates report to a meeting of the union on Monday.

In regard to Huddart, Parker and Co.'s vessels, owned in Australia and trading to New Zealand, fi strike will not affect them, as these vessels are working under New Zealand conditions, and have been doing so for a considerable time. The vessels known as the San Francisco mail boats will not be wffeofcocly sls fclie seamen on "fctiem. a.x?e all members of tbe Seamen's Union of the Pacific, and are receiving 50 and 45 dollars respectively per month, or about £2 in advance of tha wages paid on Australian vessels. The Vancouver service will however, be affected, as all the seamen on these three vessels are members of the Australian Union, and work under Australian conditions, consequently they will come out in support of the strikers. A member of the Wellington Wharf Labourers' Union who has just returned from a trip to Sydney says there are now over 11,000 members in the federation.
