THE LATE DR. CLEGHORN.

Dr George Cleghorn, who died yesterday at Wanganui, was born in India, and arrived in New Zealand about thirty years ago. He first settled in the Marlborough province, and soon became known throughout the colony as an eminent medical practitioner and a skilful surgeon. He visited England a few years ago, and on his return to the colony he commenced practice in Wanganui, where he was very successful. He was a prominent figure at the medical conferences, and his papers on surgical questions were highly valued by the other members of the profession. He was noted for his philanthropy, and many poor patients will remember him with gratitude for his never-failing kindness. He was a good sportsman, and always had one or more horses entered for the various races along the coast. The interment took place at Wanganui this morning.
