ATLANTIC EXPEDITION.

» Telegraph. Press Association. Copvrigbt Christchurch, November 16. Twenty-five Canterbury flockowners are contributing ten prime Canterbury sheep a piece as a gift to the Discovery on condition that the Government will deliver the sheep free at Lyttelton. It is also suggested that perhaps some other districts might supply the expedition with beef, and cheese on the same terms. Dunedin, November Id. Twenty-three Siberian dogs were brought over from Melbourne by the Talune yesterday, and will be put aboard the Antarctic exploring ship Discovery at Lyttelton. The animals in appearance resemble collies, but are rather surly in disposition. They are abstemiously dieted on dog biscuits, with the object of getting them into good trim for the Mvere climatic conditions they will be called on to face during the cruise. The animals maintain an awful dm with their barking and fighting amongst themselves, and the officers and crew say they will not be sorry when the last of them is seen at Lyttelton.
