Presentation to Mr J. Greenwood.

Yesterday afternoon a number of Mr and Mrs J. Greenwood's immediate friends met them in ihe Oddfellows Hall, prior to their departure for Christchurch, where they, will reside for the future, for the purpose of bidding them farewell. Mr F. F. Haggifcfc presided, and in a brief eulogistic address referred to the many good qualities of Mr and Mrs Greenwood as citizens who had rendered valuable assistance to various deserving objects, and said they would be missed on their departure. On behalf of his friends Mr HaggiU then presented Mr Greenwood with a purse of sovereigns as a slight recognition of his services to the social movements, especially the Temperance cause and Boys' Club, with which he had been connected. The Rev P. W. Jones stated that the quarterly meeting of the Feilding Primitive Methodist Connexion had on the previous day passed a resolution recognising the services rendered by Mr Greenwood and regretted his departure. He handed a copy of the resolution to Mr Greenwood. Messrs T. Watson and J. C. Thompson also made complimentary reference to Mr Greenwood. Mr Greenwood suitably acknowledged the presentation and kindly reference which bad been made to himself and Mrs Greenwood and said they would always remember with pleasure their connection with Feilding. Afternoon tea was dispensed at the conclusion of the speech making. Mr. and Mrs Greenwood left for their new home in Christchurch. by the afternoon train.
