Under a reoeut Act the Harbor Board has been taking property near the Te Aroha Railway station cotnpulsorily for the purposes of improvement. Judgment in tbe largest claim of all was delivered to day. A. Saaiple claimed £5,900 and was offered £2.200, tbe Court awarded £3,380 with £73 costs. Freda Ghoul, or Gonld, a young German woman, from Queenslaud, threw herself into the harbor last night. An old man named Whiley who tried to stop her, sprained bis leg rather badly, but the girl was rescued by others though resisting frantically. To-day she was remanded for medical treatment as she appears to be half-witted. After her rescue she expressed her determination to repeat the attempt. Tbe body of the old miner Wyatt was found near Arm Chair Creek in. Marlborough. Hg had evidently fallen into the creek. He was buried on the spot. New Plymouth, This Day. Five charges of roll stuffing were heard at the Police Court to-day. Three of the defendants were fined £2 and costs 7s for falsely stating the length of their residence in the electoral district. A Chinaman was fined 10s and another defendant working in the Prohibition cause was fined 5s and costs.
