Pemberton Notes.

♦ (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT). The Rangiwahia- - Ituahine Butter Factory is at. last an established fact, aft or tuany unavoidable delays in obtaining machinery and other neces- j saries A start was made ou Friday ' las' . and, although the factory is not completed, everything worked well, and the first milk was put through without a hitch and has been going smoothly every day since. The cream cry at Huahine, however, was not so fortunate. A start was made there on Monday last and everything seemed to work well, but it was found on Tuesday that a piece of red lead had got into one of the bearings of the separator and spoilt it by causing it to heat This means a stoppage until fresh bearings can be procured from Christchurch ; then a fresh start will be made, which, I think, will be about Friday noxt In the meautirrse, the Kolti'jrs at Ruahine are bringing their mi]'; into the factory. There are not many suppliers yet, but the number is juf musing daily, so it will not be long before mauy others are tempted to join us Owing to the wet season that we ha\e been having, shearing and haymaking are all behind. Not more than half the sheep in the district are shorn yet, and haymaking is out of iho question. Mr O. L. Pernberton is going in for ensilage. He has a large stock of it, which he adds to every . ay. No doubt if his efforts prove successful a number will go in fcr it next year. The oat crops are looking will and are going to be very heavy. They (ire juafc coming into ear.
