Wauganui Education Board.
Tbe ordinary monthly meeting of the above was commenced last night. Present—Messrs J. W. Baker (chairman), Fred Pirani, M.H.R., F. Y. Letbbridge, M.H.R., Fry, Robbins, and Rev. Mr Ross. The following appointments were agreed to : — Pihaiua-J. F. Thurston, of Fitzherbert, master. Pobangina -J. R- Nairn, master. Feilding — Annie Mousley, pupil teacher, resigned ; James Watts trans ferred from Hiwinui ; Fred Lyall to go as pupil teacher to Hiwinui. Bunnythorpe— Maggie Rowles, cadet. Karere — The Committee recommend Emma V r oss as cadet and the appointment was confirmed. Fitx Herbert East— Laura Cbristensen appoiuted cadet. Handon— From Committee, selecting Miss E. McEwen, of Karere ; appointment confirmed. Maungahoe — (aided school) — Mibs Cooper's appointment approved. Mangtnoho. — Application for pupil teacher to be considered when next return received. Apiti.— From Jessie Rae, cadet, resigning ; resignation accepted. Kapuni. — From Una Powle re certificate ; referred to Inspector to report. Birmingham. — Maggie Rowles appointed cadet. Feilding. — Committee to be asked to recommend a cadet. UKNKRAL BUSINESS. Rongotea. — From Mr Sanson re artesian well ; adopted. Terrace End- From committee re fencing ; carpenter to affect necessary repairs, under supervision of Mr Pirani. Bulls— Repairs to residence and school authorised. Taihape - Cupboard to|be procured as requested. Ratanui— Models cannot be supplied. Aratika— Applications for grant for fencing referred to Mr Lethbridge. Awahou — From committee re building school ; carpenter to order timber for a school to accommodate 40 children, on same plan as Whakamara, the work to be put in hand at once. The Board then adjourned until the morning. ELECTION OF MEMBERS. The voting papers from the Committees were counted with the following result, three members being required :— J . W. Baker, Fordell 69 C. Bridge, Waverley 65 G, A. Hurley, Manaia 54 H. Sanson, Rongotea 50 E. O. Hurley, Palmerston North ... 27 The following Committees voted for Palmerston Hurley :— Campbell street, College street, Stoney Creek, Terrace End ; (plumpers), Linton, Fitzherbert East, Kamatau, Jackeytown, Foxton, Pihama, Karere, Waiphiru, Mangarimu, Bunnythorpe, Turakina, Kiwitea, Raetihi, Pohangina, Awabou, Taikorea, Rewa, Parewanui, Okiroi, Awatnna, Oroua Bridge, Kelvin Grove, Pukerua. Had the plumpers voted for Mr Sanson and one of the committees which pre ferred Palmerston Hurley to him the former would have been elected instead of Manaia Hurley. One hundred committees voted as well as six informal.
