Several warrants have been issued to arrest James Gordon Baker, late Sergt.Major of the Permanent Forces, on Charges Of forgery and obtaining money by false pretences. Over £1 5,000 are involved. Baker left in the German steamer due in London to-day, but covered up his trail by numerous letters coming from Coolgardie. It is bettered he despatched servants thither with letters. In these he professed regret for his misdoings, but said as he was managing a good mine he would be able to square up with everybody. Accused is a nephew of Colonel Valentine Baker. His father is a retired War Office perjsioner.
