By " Spoet." The first day's races of the Feilding Jockey Club's Spring Meeting will be held to-movrow (Friday). The acceptances being, largo we can safely expect the number of horses that will face the starter will exceed that of any previous meeting and, consequently, providing the "clerk of the weather" favors us with a fair sample of sunshine, the result of the races should be some very close *' finishes " as the handicapper, Mr J. E. Henry, as usual, has succeeded in hiding the " dead birds." Every second " horsey " man who will be represented at the Meeting fancies he has " some- : thing good," a sure sign that the contests will be keen and the " finishes " exciting. The Committee of the Jockey Club have made all necessary arrangements for the ; convenience of visitors.
