The Stock Market.

Messrs Gorton and Son report as follows : — ) Since last report we hold sales at \ Marton (May 17th) and Feilding (May 31st). At Marton a very large entry came forward, but very little business was clone under the hammer, purchasers i.refering to buy privately, and in this way we succeeded in placing a large proportion of the stock at recent rates. At Feilding a very full entry was yarded and a better tone existed throughout, and we had the rare experience of selling a very large majority of the sheep under the hammer. Cattle are still dull of sale, the bullocks only finding purchasers. Our quotations are — At Marton : Forward bullocks, £o 16s ; store cows, £2 10s ; heifers, in calf, £2 7s 6d to £3 17s ; weaners and yearlings, 20s ; yearling and 18-mths. heifers, 38s ; mixed lambs (best) 4s Sd, (medium) ls 9d to 2s 4d ; culls, 9d ; ewes, in lamb, 3s 9d • forward ewes, 4s ; 2-tooth wethers, 7s. At Feilding : Forward bullocks, £4 19s to ±0; 2-years steers, £2 lis; small weaners, lis ; forward wethers (good), 7s id to 7s 3d ; store wethers, 5s 9d to 6s 6d ; young ewes, in lamb, 6s to 7s 4d ; 2 tooth to sound-mouth ewe?, in lamb, 3s lOd to 4s 9d ; forward and fat ewes, various prices, from 4s to 5s 7d : best lambs, 3s 6d to 5s ; culls, ls 7d to 2s; old ewes, ls Gd to 2s. The stock yarded at Feilding as a whole were a first-class lot, which no doubt accounted for the successful sale held.
