Gladstone Small Farm Association.

A meeting of the Gladstone Small Association Farm was held in the Temperance Hall last evening. Present — Messrs Anyon, J. C. Thompson, Mac kenzie, Gibson, Blakely, Adams, Robertson, Hattin, Bennett, Pigeon, and others. Mr Anyon was voted to the chair. A letter was received from Mr J. Long, tendering his resgnation as i Secretary, which was accepted, and J Mr J. C. Thompson was elected to fill | the vacancy. Mr Mackenzie was elected treasurer, vice Mr Blakely resigned. A letter was then read from Mr J. H. Baker, Commissioner of Crown Lands, as follows : — I have to notify that the survey of sections in this Association Block is completed, as required by clause 8 of the attached regulations, and to request you to pay tho survey fees, amounting to £475, i to the Eeceiver of Land Revenue as ; soon as possible, as I propose shortly to fix the date for holding the ballot, aud cannot do so until this amount is received " The Chairman stated that the land in the Block was not what it was made out to be, that a man who had gone to look at the land said it was no good, and that he would sooner lose his money than take up the land. Mr Mackenzie also stated that he had heard bad reports abovt the land. Mr Adams, junr., who had been over the land in his father's interest, said he thought the land was g-ood and of a uniform character, with good timber on it, and not as the former speakers had heard. Mr Pigeon, who had also visited the Block, said it was very good land, and the surveyors who were then on it gave a fair character. Several other members spoke of the character of the Block, after which it was resolved, That Mr Anyon be appointed a delegate to interview Mr Pirani, M.H.R., and, if a favorable repl} r was received, to wait on the Land Board, re purchase clause, valuation, transfers, and other matters in connection with tbe Block. Mr Adams asked how the funds of the Association stood, when the Secretary informed the meeting that there was a credit balance of £14 16s 2d. It was resolved, That the Secretary write to the late Secretary asking him concerning the matterj of Mr J. Johnson buying land in the Block. The Chairman stated that as there had not been a meeting for some time, and as there had been a change in the secretaryship, that two auditors should be appointed to examine the books of the Association. It was resolved, That Messrs Gould and Mackenzie be the auditors of the Association, Resolved, That Messrs Mackenzie and Thompson be authorised to sign cheques. Resolved, That the Secretary notify members of the Association by post card as to date of meetings. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meetings.
