Football Notes.
O A match was played on the Oval yesterday afternoon between the Red Stars and Pirates 11, resulting in a win for the former by six points to three, after a well contested game. In the first spoil Way scored a try for the Red Stars from a pass from Jos. Smith. In the second spell, a few minutes before the call of time, J. Rosoman started a rush from a scrum on the local team's goal line, and dribbled the ball tho whole length of the fisld and across his opponents' goal line, where Way fell on it scoring the second try for his side. The visitors responded and after a forward rush W. Evans touched down for tho visitors. Time was called immediately afterwards. No goals resulted from any of the tries. Mr A. Richards acted as referee. The following team has been chosen to represent Pohangina against a Feilding team on Saturday :— Fullback, Peddie ; three-quarters, Clarke, Watson, Den ton ; halves, Blake, W. Shannon ; forwards, Johnston (Captain), Fitch, Mathie, Parish, Adsett, Watson, McNeil, Peterson, Lucas 2, Knight. The Feilding II and Pahnerston Half Holiday teams tried conclusions at Palmerston yesterday afternoon and resulted in a win for the latter by six points to five. Morris scored a try for Feilding in the first spell and Allan converted. The Half-Holiday team scored one try in each spell, neither being converted. The game was in favor of the winners, particularly in the second spell, when their weight told against the visitors, whose back diyision was very light. A team from the following players, will be selected to play against the Pohangina Club on Saturday afternoon : — Moore, Parr, Robinson, Giesen, Collins, Halcombe, Whisker, Matheson, Giesen, Beard, Scaudrett, Aitken, FitzGibbons, McFarlane, Brabant, Gosling, Treseder, Smith, Hall. Any of the above who will be uncible to get away are requested to forward their names at once to Mr W. Gosling.
