Capt. Edwin wired at 12 noon to-day :{ Strong north west to west and scivh winds, and colder weather, with glass rising. The lands of J. C. Anderson, of Sterling, Molyneux district, are declared an infected place under tbe Stock Act, as swine fever exists among the pigs. The estimated population of the colony at the end of March, exclusive of Maoris, was 365,365 males, and 324,110 females, total, 689,475. The Maori population is estimated at 41,993. Grand total for tho colony, 731,468.
