In the afternoon the Colonial Ammunition Match, ten shots at 500 yards, was fired for a sweepstake arranged by the men themselves. G. Loveday (Woodville) and W. Smith (Southland) each made one within the possible. McKay (Christchurch), 48 ; White (Auckland), Trooper Sommerville (Wanganui), Greenwood (Upper Hutt), 47. The men speak highly of the ammunition and consider it equal to the Kynoch, but say it appears to be stronger, requiring lower elevation. At the 500 yds range Scott again made the possible, and Steadnaan also reached the possible. Richardson put on the possible at 600 yards. The following are the chief prize-
Amongst the final 50 to fire the last ten shots for the Championship are Private Scofct (465), and Captain Flyger (453) of Feilding. The finish promises to be close, and the winner is concealed among those mentioned. The Union Company's Cup, for the | highest aggregate in the Wellington, I Christchurch, and Otago matches, was won by Sergt. Doughty, of Auckland? with the score of 296, Lieut. Kirk second with 214. The Marton scores to-day in the Wellington Match were : — W. Johnston, 85, JEI ; Parkinson, 83, £1. The shooting was the best ever seen here. In the Wellington match Private Scott was amongst the £1 prize winners with a score of 83, and also won LI in the Grand Aggregate Match with 82. This Day. It is generally admitted the shooting yesterday was a record for any Association Meeting, and there is little doubt but a majority found their company a bit too hot. The firing began at 6.30 this morning, with a dull light and a light breeze I from the left. The Markers' Match, 10 shots at 500 yds, was first disposed of. Lance Corp. Jenkins, of the Wellington ! City Rifles, who was 2nd in (he match at Christchurch last year, won with 44 The tie between Sergt. Mooseman and Vol. Scott, of Feilding, for the Carbine Cup, as the highest aggregates in the Auckland and Ladies' matches, was then shot. The conditions were 5 shots at 300 yards, and another tie resulted each making 18. In the next shot Mooseinan scored an inner against Scott's outer, and so holds the Cup. The Nursery Match, 10 shots at 500 yards, was fired to-day, and McArdle, of Pahiatua, ran the Association into further expense by getting on the possible. Prize list— McArdle (Pahiatua} £6, 50 ; Chapman (Wairoa) £3 10s, 49 ; Meyer o (Wangarei) £3 10s, 47; Cox (A. Battery i £3, 47 ; Holland (Petone) £1 10s, 47 Willoughby (Petone) £1 10s, 47. 5 Lost Try Match, 10 shots at 500 jards ; open to those who have not won more than £8 during the meeting— -Eleridge (Port Victoria) £G t 49 ; Lieut.
