I At 2.30 p.m., a special meeting was . held to consider the offer of Messrs Stewart and Hunt, of Wellington, to * purchase the tramway for £6000, with a view to extending it to Greatford en' north and Levin on south. It was agread to accept the offer, , and make a "special order" in accordance with the Act, to take eißTect from 13t|i' September next. , It was explained that! ; the 'sale of the tramway hinges' upon' several contingencies, the formation of a joint stock company among others. In fact, . it is only an agreement giving Stewart \ twelve months to form a company in London. If he does" so before August, 1895, he must pay the Council £3000 within three months from jth&t date, and £3000 at the time the purchasers take possession. Unless the purchasers give the notice in writing, : and unless the joint stock company is registered on or before August, 1895, the agreement is hull and void, and things are in statu quo — the- Councilis no better or worse off. „'.■'" "'" This being all the business the meeting terminated. * i?
