Libel Action
I PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. I Auckland, January 6. Tho New Zealand Herald states that it is likely an action W}}l shortly be trjed in which Mr George Hutchison, M.H.E.j will be plaintiff and the lion Mr Ballance, Premier, defendant. Mr Ballance, in a speech delivered by him on the question of the payment of members, stated that Mr Hutchison had signed a paper askiug the Government to bring in a Bill to increase the amount paid. Mr Ballance also printed the statement in his paper, the Wanganui Herald. It is alleged that it is contrary to fact, and therefore libellous. Hence the action. Wellington, This Day. In the action which is being brought by Mr George Hutchison, M.H.E., against the Premier, Mr J. W. Boyle, manager of the Wanganui Herald Company, js also made a defendant. Only nominal damages of 40s are claimed. The writ has been issued, and the case will be heard in Wanganui.
