He struck the most anti-state right note during the recent debate, when he proposed to concede power to the Federal Parliament of selecting its own subjects for legislation. The statement caused marked dissent. Mr Fitzgerald delivered a fiery oration in support of the Senate. Melbourne, March 9. Mr Weddell of London, who is at present on a visit to the colonies, hus teceived a cable from his firm announcing that refrigerator charges on frozen mutton have been reduced from one-seventh to one ninth of a penny.
