The Defence authorities have promised a deputation of officers from the Military Tournament Committee that a tournament for the whole colony will be held in Wellington in November next, and at the other centres in rotation. The Government it is stated, will grant £100 annually toward the tournaments. The usual course with regard to the enrolment of recruits in New Zealand corps has been that new hands could only be taken during the months of January, April, July and October in each year, but representations haA'ing Seen made to the Defence Department on the subject it has been decided to give permission for th< enrolment of recruits during March also We regret to announce that Lieutenant Colonel Stapp is lying seriously ill at Nevi Plymouth, suffering from inflammation.
