Mr Jellicoe, on behalf of the prisoner, Applied to the Chief Justice to plead generally to the indictment •charging the prisoner with misdemeanors under the Bankruptcy Act, in addition to a special plea of autrefois convict. He contended that the prisoner was being tried for certain ; .acts for which he had been punished by the District Court at Palmerston, mnder the summary jurisdiction clauses ; ■of the Bankruptcy Act His Honor granted the requisite leave, and Mr Jellieoe undertook to furnish the proa•euution with the copies of the ep&eial {pleas. Mr Gully, having read the draft of the pleas, 4aid he was obliged to admit the allegations, although he ; •disputed that the offence was the! «ame.
