Attempted Murder

N api kb, Jitnuary 20. William FI ill, a cabman, was arrested to-night for firing with a revolver at a man named James O'Dowd. The latter had been living with a woman named Vondersee, and some three months ago O'Dowd was sentenced to three months for assaulting her. The term of imprisonment expired yesterday, and he wt?nt this evening to Vondersee's house and found William Hill there. An altercation took place, and O'Dowd went outside and was quarrelling with the woman Vondersee when Hill came to the door, and telling the latter to stand aside, fired at O'Dowd. The latter told him to put down that thing, and come out and fight, whereupon Hill fired again. The police came up and arrested him, and found a five-ch&m-ber revolver with two chambers discharged. O'Dowd was uninjured.
