Feilding Borough Council

The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the above was held on Thursday evening last at the Council Chambers. Present — The Mayor, Crs Thompsou, "Wbrsfold, J. Bartholomew, Bishop, Lyne, and Fowles. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

COEKESPONDENCE.

From the Treasury Department, advising the Council that the first instalment of the subsidy amounting to £173 8s 7d had been remitted.

From G. C. Hill, submitting the valuation roll for the current year.

From M. Keen, re cottage occupied by Mrs Robert Belfit, and re drainage of Queen street sections.

Petition from D. McKenzie and others, praying the Council to construct Duke street.

Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr Bartholomew, That the Town Clerk be instructed to give Mrs R. Belfit one week's notice to quit the house now occupied by her, and possession to bo given to the landlord. —

Proposed by Cr Lyne, seconded by Cr Thompson, That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for formation and metalling of Duke street by next meeting of the Council. —Negatived . Proposed by Cr Bishop, seconded tyAtfhe Mayor, That the Public Works Committee report on the most needful works required in the Borough by next meeting. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Lyne, seconded by Cr Thompson* That the Engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for formation and metalling of Hubner street by next meeting of the Council.— Negatived. Proposed by Cr Lyne, seconded by Cr Thompson, That Mr Gray be employed to superintend the driving of the piles of the new bridge in Derby street. —Negatived. Proposed by Cr Fowlea, seconded by Cr Worsfold, That tenders be called for the supply of road metal and one and two horse teams for the ensuing year.— Garried. Eesolved, That the Town Clerk draw £5 for petty cash. The Coimcil tbea adjourned.
