Football.

"SCRIMMAGE" REPLIES. TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAE. Sik,—Last evening I was-shown a letter in your Rangitikei contemporary signed by "Footballer," in which he seeks to show the public that my notes on the Foo.iball^n^tch were incorrect. He specially insthnces two "tries " made by Taunt. Now, for "'Footballer's" information, I would say that my "notes " were not supposed' to be a detailed report at all, though I may add that the two "tries" by Taunt were omitted quite accidentally. Again, I would inform •""Footballer" that, in such a one-sided as that of last Saturday's, I do not think it" a very generous action to minutely-describe the defeat sustained by our opponents. Many little matters were purposely .left out, and, amongst others, the fact that "Footballer"—if my suspicions as to his identity are correct — was guilty of an action during the game, for which,,had he been at an English public school,.he would bave been kicked from one end of the ground to the other. As you are already aware, this fact was suppressed out of a charitable feeling towards "Football." I am sadly afraid that my young friend is somewhat piqued at not finding his name "honorably mentioned" by me. If "Footballer" will study the art of playing a gentlemanly game of football, and profit by such study, I may. on some future occasion, have the opportunity of recording his deeds of valour. —l am. &c, SCEIMMAGE.
