The following passed : — Ellen Prendergast, Johanna Prendergast, and Julia Bailey. The sth Standard candidates deserve credit for their work, especialiy Ellen Prendergast. Henry Parkes, who passed the 4th Standard, is still under ten years of age. The low per centage of passes, on the whole, may be accounted for in two ways. (1) Many of the children were presented last year for Standards beyond their attainments, and this has. had the usual effect of causing many failures in the subsequent Standards this year, especialiy in the third. (2) Under a new regulation of the Board, teachers are compelled to present all children who have been two years at school, and have been 250 half days in attendance since last examination.
