FIRE BRIGADE.
TO THE EDIT'E. Sir.— As one realizing the gr«at need there is for a Fire Brigade for Feilding, 1 hive taken the first step by calling a m — lingof (hose interested inifcs formation. Hitherto I have taken no part in the matter believing it was ia the hands of those who would carry it through. In believing so, I confess T wrts in error, as the matter is no farther advanced to-day than it was twelve montlis befoie. There may be a good deal suid about the trouble of start- , ing a brigade in Feilding, nnd the diffij eulty of getting water, and also the difficulty of raising funds. Well, to ray mind, if we overcome the last difficulty^ i we ran ( j asi'y overcome all others, and at j ilie present time I can see how seventy or | a hundred pounds can.be obtained almost i at once, and I believe double that amount I could be obtained inside six months, aad i this would give sufficient funds for a beI ginning. The greatest of all difficulties i is apathy, which, if overcome by perse- | verance, perseverance will overcome all other troubles. Hoping to see a good attendance at the meeting at the Denbigh I Hotel, of those interested in the matter, lat S o'clock next Saturday night. — I am, I E. Loudon.
