SMOKE CONCERT
PAPAKURA RUGBY LEAGUE A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION The Papakura Rugby. League Football Club held a most enjoyable smokers’ evening in their club rooms, Union Street. The president, Mr Les McVeigh, presided over a large attendance and gave a hearty welcome to all present, including a number of visitors. lie mentioned that the club was now in its fourteenth year of active •football, and that the club had provided no less than 80 members for the forces. The following toasts were honoured: The King; Members returned from Overseas, Mr E. A. .1. Busing—Major Prydc: Referees’ Association. Mr Les Wright—Mr R. Pope; Papakura Borough Council, Mr F. Osborne —Mr Busing; Absent Friends, Mr P. O’Shannessey; Kindred Sports, Mr A. Anderson —Mr S. Heron: the artists, Mr Les McVeigh: the president, Mr T, C. Seaton. Entertaining items were given by Messrs J. Gherkin, W. Potter. G. Sinclair, J. Allen, F. Stevens. Islanders Trio, M. Soulcr, T. Parks, Sinythc, and E.. Hayden.
