OBITUARY
THE REV. VINCENT BINET FORMERLY OF ' WAIUKU The death has occurred after a brief illness of the Rev. Vincent LeCornu Binet, a well-known minister of the Methodist Church of New Zealand. He was born at Jersey, in the Channel Islands, and as a young man travelled to Western Australia, where he entered the ministry. He volunteered for missionary service in the then little-known Solomon Islands and for lb years performed outstanding work as a pioneer missionary in the island of Ghoiseul. Mr Binet was mainly instrumental in bringing peace to the warring tribes of that island. Owing to illhealth, he retired to New Zealand some eight' years ago, since when he had been minister at Glen Eden. Waiuku and Otorohanga. A few months ago he retired on account of ill-health. He is survived by his wife and one son, who is serving in Hie -Middle East.
