MODERATOR’S VISIT
TOUR CONCLUDES TONIGHT "VERY IMPRESSED WITH FRANKLIN The Right Reverend John Davie, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, will conclude his tour of the South Auckland Presbytery with a visit to Pokeno tonight. The Moderator, apart from an outstanding personality, is one of the most versatile characters to have occupied this important position in his church. He was a prominent sprirfter, a clever boxer, represented Otago at Rugby football and in his younger days was a successful farmer and as a judge of draught, "horses he has few T equals in New Zealand. The" Moderator has been tremendously impressed with the quality of the land, and the general beauty of the Franklin district, over which he has passed during his tour. He told a Pukekohe East audience of Presbyterians that he has seen nothing better in the whole of New Zealand to compare with the beauty of the landscape in Franklin. “It is just one step from paradise.” said the Moderator. Such a remark coming from one who should know—a former filler of the soil—is bound to cause farmers of the district to inflate their chesls.
