SOME FINE BLOOMS
DISPLAY OF CHRYSANTHEMUMS
HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
MINIATURE SHOW
A very enjoyable evening was spent by both members and their friends last Monday evening when the Pukekohe Horticultural Society held its miniature show at McConnell’s tearooms.
Owing to the seasonal conditions, not so many entries were received, nevertheless the beautiful blooms of chrysanthemums exhibited by Mr R. Underhill were very favourably commented on by the judge and all present.
Mr R. Thornton judged all the exhibits and also gave an instructive lecture on seasonal work in both vegetable and flower gardens. He urged all members to take extra interest in their kitchen gardens as part of their war effort. Mr V. Morris presided and helped considerably to make the evening very enjoyable. Mrs L. G. Lawrie won the points prize for cut flowers with 52 points, and Mr Underhill was runner-up with 35 points.
