A JOLLY EVENING
PRIVATE KEN BARNABY HONOURED
PRESENTATION MADE
Private Ken Barnahy, son of Mr and Mrs Walter Barnaby, of Harrisville, who spent furlough in Tuakau last week, was the guest of honour at a social evening arranged by the girls of Tuakau and held in the Oddfellows’ hall last Thursday. There was a good attendance of Ken’s friends, and a jolly evening was spent. Dance music was supplied by Geo. McGuire’s orchestra and extras were played by Mr F. Clarke, who also discharged the duties of master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss Diane Clayton and Mr Owen Cooney.
A presentation was made to Private Barnaby by Miss Clayton on behalf of his friends, while his fiancee, Miss Beryl Carter, was presented with a lovely spray. A dainty supper was served by the ladies.
i The proceeds of the function were handed to the Soldiers’ Welfare Com- : mittee.
Private Barnaby was also presented with a parcel from the Sodliers’ Welfare Committee at the annual meeting and social evening of the Tuakau Returned Services’ Association. Mr G. Holland also presented him with a boot cleaning outfit.
